Artist's Statement
I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and as a child I spent a lot of time outside in the mountains and plains of Colorado going skiing or hiking or hunting. My father was a geologist and we often stopped by the side of the road at the top of a ridge just to look at the landscape and the rocks around us. This upbringing instilled in me a love of the western landscape, not just the grand beauty of the Rocky Mountains, but also the subtle beauty of the region.
This love of the land eventually led me to pursue a career in geological engineering as a hydrogeologist. But somehow that wasn't enough, and I gave that up to pursue landscape photography as a way of getting more in touch with the land around us. I am curious about the visual world we are immersed in and I love to wander around and look for scenes that most people pass by, no matter what country I may be in.
At Evan Anderman Photography I love to explore new places and will strive to make them relevant and real to you, increasing your understanding and appreciation of the natural processes around us. I will share the experience of the world as it unfolds in front of my lens on my Journey Through Landscape.
