Le Jeune Salon Debuts Fifth Annual Exhibition and Sale
Collection of fine art works under $5000 to benefit Denver Art Museum
DENVER (August 16, 2007) -Le Jeune Salon (The Young Salon), named an official Denver Art Museum "Young Associates" event designed to reach the next generation of museum patrons and future art leaders, will debut its fifth annual exhibition from November 3-9, 2007.
"Le Jeune Salon's continued alliance with the Denver Art Museum is based upon a shared dedication to introducing fine art to a young, engaged audience and strengthening Denver's national arts identity," said Natalie Rekstad-Lynn, founder and curator of Salon d'Arts.
A lively and much anticipated event, Le Jeune Salon offers visitors an opportunity to become engaged in the artistic process, converse with artists about their work and collect pieces to be treasured for decades. Guest curators of Le Jeune Salon include Ann Daley, curator at the Denver Art Museum, Dean Sobel, Director of the Clyfford Still Museum, and Natalie Rekstad-Lynn, founder and curator of Salon d'Arts, its affiliate exhibition. Salon d'Arts was created in 2001 in the tradition of the great European art salons of the late nineteenth century and serves as a public forum for fine art produced by artists from throughout the country.
"I'm thrilled that the evolution of Le Jeune Salon has attracted renowned curators Dean Sobel, director of the Clyfford Still Museum and Ann Daley, curator at Denver Art Museum, whom I have admired for years," continues Rekstad-Lynn. "Each curator brings a unique perspective and list of artists to the table, creating a compelling and varied show, yet with price points that can engage the beginning and seasoned collector."
Le Jeune Salon is an annual fine art exhibition of notable national living artists, with the majority of artwork available for sale up to $1,000, with selected works valued up to $5000. The inspiration for Le Jeune Salon is to provide the beginning art collector with a more affordable alternative to Salon d'Arts.
The 2007 Le Jeune Salon exhibition features over forty emerging, mid-career, and nationally-renowned artists with approximately 100 paintings and sculptures ranging in subject matter from representational figure, landscape and still life to abstract and postmodern. A significant number of artists in the exhibition are
featured in the permanent collection of the Denver Art Museum. The common denominator is that they are the finest examples of each artist's work under $5,000.
Le Jeune Salon is open to the public free of charge from November 3 through November 9, 2007 at Gallery 1261, 1261 Delaware Street, Denver, Colorado, enabling visitors to view the collection prior to the evening reception and sale on November 9, 2007. The event will attract hundreds of young, affluent professionals and community leaders, and generous supporters of the Denver Art Museum. Tickets are $60 for regular admission; patron tickets are $100, which includes a Champagne Reception and Panel Discussion with the Curators just prior to the event.
