ARTIST'S STATEMENT
"This painting of a young ballet dancer who lives near us was inspired by a traditional Korean wedding dress that one of her relatives gave her. Alyx has lived in the United States since she was young and is so thoroughly "American" that she enjoyed dressing up and connecting to her Korean heritage. The cultural variety of our country is one of its greatest strengths and I am always amazed at people who fear becoming a "minority" due to the rising number of immigrants. As Americans, Alyx and I will always be in the majority."
