ARTIST'S STATEMENT
"Often the inspiration for a painting comes not from the obvious subject matter, but rather from relationships of abstract shapes, tonal ranges, or harmonies of color. The excitement for me in composing "Of Asia" was in building the harmony of rusts, greens, and violets that complemented the model's ethnicity while maintaining a subject matter that was coherent on a literal level as well."
