Natalie Rekstad-Lynn Principal Salon d'Arts benefiting Colorado Ballet
Event Coordinator
Founder's Statement
Salon was created primarily as a cultural entity, guided by artists' strong
opinions and candid criticisms. As such, the freedom to focus on artistic
achievement, versus just fundraising, is incredibly liberating. I rely
heavily upon a panel of respected artists who act as advisors, selecting their
contemporaries whose work captures the essence of great art. This selection
process is atypical of other national shows and believe me, it's a tough
group! The reason for this approach is to promote collector confidence,
The sponsor and patron program is a tremendous asset to Salon, and the 2003
exhibition has already surpassed financial expectations as a result of the
philanthropic and business community's remarkable support. Heartfelt thanks to
all who made this happen. Half of all proceeds go directly to fulfilling
Salon's mission of accessibility to the arts and strengthening Denver's
presence in the national arts arena; the other half is invested in fundraising
efforts to fulfill the performing arts mission of Colorado Ballet.
Working with Colorado Ballet as the beneficiary is not only a joy, but also
wonderfully fitting. Like Salon artists, Colorado Ballet challenges itself and
its audience to greater heights of art appreciation. It is innovative, daring,
and extraordinarily skillful. I am grateful for the alliance, and grateful for
their inspiring my love affair with the exquisite beauty of the ballet.
The long-term vision of Salon is to strengthen its foundation as a top
exhibition and sale of living artists; continuously grow the proceeds to
fortify Colorado's economic and cultural health; and to strengthen our
community's interest, accessibility, and support of the visual and performing
arts.
Thank you for joining us on this journey.
