What is Great Art?
A Panel Discussion featuring Salon artists
Michael Bergt, Jeffrey Keith and Mary Whyte

This timeless question can bring about strong opinions and diverse perspectives. One of Salon's most popular panel topics, our special panel guests will engage the audience by discussing their personal view of "What is Great Art?"

Michael Bergt an internationally acclaimed sculptor and painter from Santa Fe, thoughtfully engages the viewer with spiritual themes and humankind. Jeffrey Keith is a Denver based colorist whose vibrant paintings capture a sense of place through color and unique layering of pigment. Known best for her figurative watercolors, Mary Whyte is an avid illustrator, writer and instructor.

10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Steve Huston - Lecture

Huston is one of American's most sought after figurative artists. In his work the viewer is taken in with moody interpretations of working class men and women - showing the rawness of human condition. Huston will discuss his painting process. What inspires him? What challenges him? What makes him return to his canvas day after day?

11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Salon d'Arts 2006 Featured Artist, Dan McCaw - Lecture

McCaw is a passionate painter, lecturer and author who always speaks from the heart. His highly expressionistic work continues to change and although his traditional figure, landscape and interior paintings remain popular, he continues to unearth his own painter's soul through new abstracted works. McCaw will provide an introspective look at his painting both past and present.
