Embrace! explores the many possibilities of the new Frederic C. Hamilton Building. The exhibition will show how painting leaves the wall and embraces the space. Eighteen artists selected spaces that take advantage of the building in innovative and challenging ways.  Curated by the Polly and Mark Addison Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art Christoph Heinrich, this exhibition is sure to be a surprising and enthusiastic celebration of painting and architecture.  Featured artists include international art stars El Anatsui, Zhong Biao, Nicola López, Katharina Grosse, Tobias Rehberger, Dasha Shishkin to name a few.  The United States’ own Rick Dula, Matthew Brannon, Kristin Baker, Jessica Stockholder, Lawrence Weiner, John McEnroe and others will also be prominently featured. Embrace! will run from November 14, 2009 – April 4, 2010.

The artists featured in Embrace! will exhibit at least one additional work of art at Salon du Musée. The Salon exhibition will be on view in the Modern & Contemporary Galleries of the Frederic C. Hamilton building beginning November 1, 2009.  The works will then auctioned among several hundred museum supporters at the lively Salon du Musée Soiree & Fine Art Sale the evening of November 14, 2009, which also serves as the international preview for Embrace!
“Salon du Musée will feature the internationally renowned artists featured in the Denver Art Museum’s exhibition entitled ‘Embrace!’ yet unlike the museum installation, the art will be available for sale at the Salon,” stated the Polly and Mark Addison Curator of Contemporary Art Dr. Christoph Heinrich.  “This is an exciting prospect for many attendees and potential collectors because the artists will be flying in from all corners of the world to mingle at the event and talk about their work and inspiration.”

Salon du Musée is modeled after European art salons of the late nineteenth century and serves as a public forum for promoting the exchange of ideas between artists and viewers.  Salon du Musée will open to the public from October 26 through November 14, 2009.  The preview of Denver Art Museum’s Embrace! and the Salon du Musée  Soirée and Fine Art Sale will be held on the evening of November 14, 2009 attracting hundreds of art collectors, community leaders, and generous supporters of the Denver Art Museum.  Tickets are $75 for regular admission to the Soirée; patron tickets are $125, which includes a pre-event Champagne Reception; Elite tickets are $350 and include the Champagne Reception, Soirée, and post-event dinner featuring the Embrace! Artists at Palettes Restaurant located at the Denver Art Museum.  Tickets can be purchased at Blacktie-Colorado.com.  For more information, contact Natalie Rekstad-Lynn at 303-494-0180, rekstad-lynn@comcast.net or visit www.salon-d-arts.org.
